Team Njord's WELD 231 capstone is a half-scale build — a roughly 6-foot welded aluminum skiff, modeled at 50% of a 12-foot design, with every seam tacked, back-step welded, and sealed by hand.

The boat
Our capstone is a half-scale (about 6-foot) open aluminum skiff, fabricated from marine-grade aluminum. Building at 50% scale, we cut, fit, and welded the hull together — focusing on clean, watertight seams and keeping the metal fair and flat as it went together.
